VITA FLEX TECHNIQUE

How many of you have heard of the Vita Flex points on your body? These little points are AMAZING and can make a HUGE difference when you are applying oils to your body! Vita Flex means "vitality throughout the reflexes" and is an easy way to apply essential oils through the bottoms of your feet. This important technique can help relieve pain and suffering as well as improving your physical and mental well being. Vita Flex is a specialized for of hand and foot massage that is very effective in delivering the benefits of the essential oils throughout the body. The technique is based on  a complete network of reflex points that stimulate all the internal body systems. When the fingertips make a connection with the specific reflex points, while using essential oils, an electrical charge is released that sends energy through the neuroelectrical pathways. This charge follows pathways of the nervous system to where there is an energy block cause by damage, toxins, or loss of oxygen. There are more than 1,500 Vita Flex points throughout the body. Vita Flex uses a rolling and releasing motion that involves placing the fingers flat on the skin, rolling up onto the fingernails, using medium pressure, and then sliding the hand forward about 1/2 inch, continually repeating this rolling and releasing technique until the specific Vita Flex area is covered. This is to be done 3 times to the area.

I don't know about you but what I do know is that I LOVE this technique. I enjoy researching and finding out what point goes to what area. This is just another great way to take control of your body and live above the wellness line, naturally. Who's going to try this technique more often?! Here is my favorite foot chart:

KIDS AND EMOTIONS

Kids have emotions, a lot of them. Most of them are because of age, but what about the emotions that come on from everyday life? Sometimes I feel that I do not give my kids time to deal with their feelings and often shake it off due to attitude problems or drama. For the past two weeks my oldest son has openly been expressing his emotions towards his up coming STARR test. My son is brilliant, brilliant beyond words. He started reading books at 18 months and has never slowed down. He's 9 years old and reads at an almost 9th grade level and his math is at an 8th grade level. So, I was just dumbfounded that he was so concerned. I mean, I was the one that struggled in school. I was terrible at it. I am the type of person that  should be scared of these tests. I barely passed the math portion to exit high school. I took it 4 times!!!! Then it hit me, he is scared to death of academic failure. My heart sank. Here is a precious child who is very aware of his gifts and yet it causes him so much stress. Although he has maintained an A Honor Roll all year, he is petrified that he will not pass the 3rd grade because of this test! I despise this test. I despise all standardized tests. For kids like me, for kids like my Reed.

Last night my sweet son came up to me and asked if his daddy and I would pray over him. He does this when he is desperate. I knew this was a cry for help. As we were getting the boys ready for bed, I prayed for guidance. I prayed that the Lord would ease Reed's heart and fill him with confidence. I prayed, and the Lord answered. Use your emotions book and oils. YES!! Why was this not my first reactions to his feelings?!! So I pulled out my book and Reed, daddy, and I got to work.
He instantly seemed calmer. He was taking control of his emotions! How powerful is that?!! We found the alarm points and oils he needed and applied them. We tucked him, held hands and prayed over him. He passed out and slept. Praise the Lord!

We, as parents, say NO to our children far more than we say YES. We are here to teach them and raise them up in the Lord. That is our only purpose. So, why not give them a YES that can empower them. At 9 years old my son was taught to take control of his emotions by this one situation. I pray it continues. Yes, Reed, you may use any oil you want. Yes, Reed, you may use that book whenever you need. Yes, Yes, YES! Let's teach our children the powerful connection between oils and prayer!

"Natural" Can Be Unnatural

How many of you feel you are buying products that are good for you simply because they are labeled "natural"? If it says it then it must be true, right? WRONG! Unfortunately, the term "natural" can be used in very deceptive ways. If an ingredient is a five generation derivative of coconut meat, some will claim it to be natural. This happens even if you can't pronounce the ingredient. Sodium tallowate and potassium tallowate are the main ingredients in many mass produced bar soaps. Would you like to know what these "natural" ingredients consist of? They are the fatty remains of slaughtered cows, sheep, and horses. Still not concerened? Brains, fatty tissues, and other unwanted parts of dead and sometimes diseased animals are collected into large vats and used to create "tallow". This "tallow" is shipped to commercial soap makers, where it is then made into our everyday soaps. Now, please don't think that tallow is bad. Their kind is, but you can make your own or buy a healthy, grassfed tallow and benefit from it immensely. I buy this kind of tallow. Some other ingredients that are used in mass-producing soaps are:
Isopropyl alcohol (Dries your skin out and depletes the body of its natural oils.)
Fragrance (This word can refer to over 4,000 ingredients, most of which are synthetic.)
DEA (Diethanolamine is a hormone disturbing chemical known to cause cancer-causing nitrates.)
FD&C Colors (These fake colors can skin sensitivity and irritation. It may also deplete the skin of  oxygen.)
Propylene Alcohol (Found in anti-freeze!)
Triclosan (Skin irritation)
Sadly, as you can see, most ingredients used in the soap industry are toxic.

SO WHAT CAN YOU DO?............MAKE YOUR OWN OR BUY THE REAL STUFF!!

I love making my own products and I enjoy this recipe: Soap I only recommend using Young Living Essential Oils. They are the purest. If I'm lazy, which is often, I buy my soaps. My favorite one right now is Young Living Lavender Rosewood. Lavender and Rosewood oils act as natural moisturizers to soothe and hydrate the skin as they cleanse, nourish, and tone. Young Living has a great selection to choose from. Which one are you interested in?

COOKING WITH ESSENTIAL OILS

Hey y'all!! Here is a simple but fun way to understand the importance of essential oil infused foods.

Essential oil-enhanced cooking can be a lot of fun. A healthier lifestyle way of eating starts with your food preparation. When you have finished cooking your meats, add 2-3 drops Basil, Fennel, Rosemary, or Thyme and let meat cool in the covered pot, so the oils can penetrate and soak into the meat.

After steaming vegetables, add 1-2 drops of Lemongrass, Peppermint, Spearmint, or Lemon to enhance the enzymatic action of the food and increase the natural enzyme secretion in your GI tract.

When making apple pie, pumpkin pie, carrot cake, and so on, add 3-4 drops of Cinnamon Bark, Ocotea or other oils you desire according to taste. Essential oils also increase ion exchange in the cells of foods, increasing the cell surface and allowing more ATP (energy metabolism of cells) and oxygen uptake that enhance greater enzyme  function.

Here are some FUN recipe's!

Essential Oils: A Pharmaceutical's Perspective

I JUST found all my notes from the Young Living convention last August. I was so upset because I thought they were gone forever! One of my favorite classes was with Lindsey Elmore, a clinical pharmacist with Young Living. See, I was raised around medicine. Two of my grandfathers were doctors and my dad is a clinical pharmacist. So, I LOVE the medical side of essential oils. I can't wait to share all of the knowledge I learned while in this class. This will be in a series of posts because I took so many notes that I need to break it up! Lindsey answered the most frequently asked questions from essential oil users.  Let's get started!

When I use essential oils I get a rash. Should I quit?

One reason a rash can develop is due to phototoxicity. Phototoxicity happens when compounds react with photons in visible light. This is what increases the risk of a sunburn.

Why does this happen?

Cross-linking of DNA. This can occur when exposure of UV light can be exacerbated by some essential oil constituents. DNA ladders pull apart and connect to other ladders and get stuck. Your body reacts through inflammation. This usually takes 36-72 hours to develop. Why? Furanocoumarin molecules squeeze in between base pairs in DNA. This molecule are found in grapefruit and bergamot.

Who is at risk?

1. People with long exposure to UV rays.
2. People who use a high concentration of oil.

Here are a list of oils with phototoxicity.

A. Rutaceae
     1. Bergamot
     2. Orange
     3. Rue
     4. Lemon
     5. Lime

B. Apiaceae
    1. Cumin
    2. Angelica

Testimony time!
I'm a redhead. Bergamot is my favorite perfume oil. I have it on a roller ball and it's always in my purse. One day I rolled that Bergamot all over my heart. Why not, it makes me happy! Well, that day I wore a lower cut shirt that exposed some cleavage. The oil was all over my cleavage. By just walking around outside, during the summer, I got a nasty sunburn in between the girls! Bergamot is that sensitive to light! So please do not take phototoxicity lightly. Young Living oils are so potent and pure. Remember, one drop of our peppermint oil is equivalent to 26 CUPS of peppermint tea!
This is my sunburn from Bergamot! Be careful!
